My Wild Self

We are learning to use juicy describing words in our writing. We made our own wild selves and wrote about them using lots of great adjectives. Look at our great writing below:

 

 

This is my wild self. I think I look so pretty and I have a cool t-shirt with love hearts. I love my wild self. I have two ostrich feet.

This is my wild self and I have beautiful light orange butterfly wings. For my ears I have warm fluffy polar bear ears. On top of my head I have long nice feathers. I have lots of other cool heathers around myself. I love my wild self! The background looks like a zoo because it is a zoo and a beautiful butterfly!

This is my wild self. I have a lightning t-shirt. I have bat wings and awesome glasses. I have cool yellow shoes and so cool black pants.

Melted Crayon Art

We had an exciting time creating a class work of art for the Big Night Out art auction. We used a hot glue gun to glue crayons onto a canvas then used a hairdryer to melt the crayons down the canvas. We made flowers out of fabric and jewels to finish this colourful wax garden. Our favourite part was watching the crayons drip down the canvas.

 

 

 

 

Science Experiments with Water

Every Wednesday afternoon we become junior scientists as we explore the way that water moves and changes. Watch our science experiment below and look at our diagrams we made to explain how the experiment worked.

Te Ika a Maui

This term we will be learning about water as a part of our focus on "Treasuring our World". To begin our study we looked at the Maori story "The Fish of Maui". We learnt about how Maui caught the North Island of New Zealand on his waka. We retold these stories in our own words... Have a read below!

My Toy

 

We are learning about toys and how they have changed over time. We made our own toys with paint, cotton wool, googley eyes and stickers. We labelled our finished work using the Skitch app on our tablet. Check out our great artwork! 

 

 

 

Wooden Peg Dolls

We are learning about past and present toys. As a part of our study we made our own peg dolls from wooden pegs and material.

 

 

 

Our Visit to Howick Historical Village

Room 7 went to Howick Historical Village to explore how people lived, worked and played in the past. We played with old toys, went to a historical school, sung and danced to nursery rhymes and learnt about how people travelled to New Zealand from England on a big ship... It was a 100 day journey! We loved exploring the village at the end of the day, walking through the houses, workshops and community buildings. We had a great day!
